A waterless urinal saves an average of 20,000 - 45,000 gallons of water a year. Preventing bathroom odors is the most important element of a great waterless urinal. Our waterless urinals use a patented EcoTrap® and a specially-formulated BlueSeal®. Learn how the process works below. EcoTrap® The patented EcoTrap® relies on the proven and simple vertical trap principle.  1. Urine flows down into the EcoTrap® drain insert. 2. In the EcoTrap® the urine passes through a floating layer of BlueSeal® liquid, which forms a barrier that prevents sewer vapors from escaping to the restroom atmosphere. 3. Urine under the barrier layer overflows into the central tube and runs down to the conventional drain line. 4. The layer of approx. 3 ounces of BlueSeal® will last for about 1500 sanitary uses. The liquid is then simply replenished. Task time: 20 seconds. Trap does not need to be touched. 5. The EcoTrap® retains urine sediments and is easily replaced 2-4 times a year according to traffic to the fixture. A special tool, the X-Traptor®, is used to remove the EcoTrap®. This deters vandalism. Task time: 3-4 minutes. Please see our simple maintenance instructions here. 6. Drain lines are free of hard encrustations. They are easily accessed by removing the EcoTrap® with the special X-Traptor® tool. The patented vertical EcoTrap® design provides superior efficiencies to other, more complicated trap arrangements. It does not need to be cleaned out as it is simply changed out. It also helps retain urine sediments. Urinals without trap inserts may clog the urinal’s internal trapway. BlueSeal® It’s what makes No-Flush™ urinals work! BlueSeal® is our long lasting and biodegradable trap seal liquid. BlueSeal® has a specific gravity lower than water or urine. It therefore remains for an extended period of time in the trap with urinal use (small amounts do get carried out with each urinal use), or BlueSeal® remains indefinitely in the trap with no use, sealing trap odors. BlueSeal® has zero evaporation at 100 degrees F and does not freeze above -70 degrees F. Then on freezing feature allows facilities to eliminate or reduce urinalwinterization costs. Commercially available cleaners will not harm the BlueSeal® in the EcoTrap®. BlueSeal® is simply added in three (3) ounce portions into the urinal EcoTrap® via the PortionAid. Please follow instructions on bottle. Note: The cleaning of Waterless urinals is effected the same way as cleaning conventional urinals. Replenishments of BlueSeal® are simple and accurately measured with a PortionAid. Fill the PortionAid on top of the bottle by simply squeezing the bottle. Pour contents directly into the holes of the EcoTrap®. The PortionAid minimizes the waste of BlueSeal®. |
